Vande Bharat train was on its journey from Mumbai Central to Gandhinagar when it collided with cattle near Atul in Gujarat’s Valsad on the morning of October 29.

Following the incident, the train halted for half and hour. However, no significant damage to the train has been reported, except for damage in the train’s coupler, water pump pipe, and the cover of the front coach.

The Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Superfast Express train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and it started its commercial run on October 1, a day after. This incident was the fourth after the launch of the train last month.

India lined-up to surpass China as the most populated country in 2023

According to projections made by United Nation, the world population hit the mark of eight billion today on November 15, 2022. The eight billion population milestone showed that the population increased by one billion people in the world in just the last 11 years.

India is lined-up to surpass China as the world’s most populated by the year 2023. Also, the global population is projected to peak at around 10.4 billion in the 2080s.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres  said, “This year’s World Population Day falls during a milestone year when we anticipate the birth of the Earth’s eight billionth inhabitant. This is an occasion to celebrate our diversity, recognice our common humanity, and marvel at advancements in health that have extended lifespans and dramatically reduced maternal and child mortality rates.”

Nagpur to experience winter in its truest form: Regional Meteorological Department

After experiencing severe rainfall in Nagpur (138.8 mm), which was the highest rainfall in the month of October in nine years, meteorologists forecast a comparatively colder winter this year because of extended southwest monsoon. The temperature in the district fell down 20 degrees Celsius.

Regional Meteorological Department official said, “The Northern wind has been predominating recently, and as a result, Vidarbha region has been experiencing cold winds.” He added, there will not be any significant change in the temperature within next two weeks.

Scientist at RMD, Dr Praveen Kumar added, “A considerable drop in the temperature is typically seen during December, which will lead to actual winter in Nagpur at that time, the city of Nagpur may experience winter in its truest form during the month of December. Having said that, we are keeping a close eye on the model guidance.” He also said that over Nagpur and Vidarbha, the drop in the temperature happens because of a western disturbance (in north) and because of a strong north westerly/northerly wind present simultaneously.

Delhi: IndiGo plane’s engine catches fire seconds before take-off

Engine of an IndiGo aircraft at the Delhi airport caught fire on Friday night (October 28) around 9:45 pm, seconds before taking off for Bengaluru.

IndiGo flight 6E-2131 on fire at Delhi Airport

Reportedly, the fire went out within moments. There were 184 people on the plane. Passengers and crew onboard IndiGo flight 6E-2131 are safe, said Delhi Police. The passengers got off the plane after 11 pm and were accommodated on another flight around midnight.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said, a detailed probe will be carried out into the incident and suitable action will be taken.
