Priyanka Chopra is on top of the world right now. Be it her personal life or professional life, the actress is living the most. But it wasn’t a cakewalk for her to achieve what she has today. The actress, who was in India for the launch of her hair care brand recently, said in an interview, “There were few people who wanted to jeopardise my career. And then some took away my work and made sure that I didn’t get work because I was doing well in what I did.”
The actress also confessed that there were some people who even wanted to harm her. “Nothing stopped me frankly. I’m not someone who’ll sit, wait and think that I’ll cry one night when an opportunity is taken away from me. I believe you should focus on that one person who believes in you. Focus on people who inspire you, from wherever u get it. I know that’s the hardest thing to do because you are bogged down by baggage and shackles of people holding you down,” added Priyanka and confessed how she overcame it.
The actress, who’ll be seen in Russo Brothers’ ‘Citadel’ next, said, “There are very few people who’ll be happy for others’ success and it’s no different for those who live in India.”
I’m known for small and mid-budget films, so I can never enter 300 crore club: Ayushmann Khurrana
Ayushmann Khurrana is back with an action drama, ‘An Action Hero’. And the trailer of the film is a promising one, a real genre-bender for Ayushmann fans. The movie also has Jaideep Ahlawat playing the lead alongside Ayushmann. So when asked to comment on how many big stars are doing two-hero films these days, Ayushmann, who has always teamed up with actors playing strong characters, said, “Be it Annu Kapoor’s character in ‘Vicky Donor, Rajkummar Rao in ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, Gajraj Rao in ‘Badhai Ho or Tabu in ‘Andhadhun’, all these characters were equally strong along with mine. So, I’ve never followed the trend. I work with actors who contribute to a film. Ultimately, it’s the film that’s a winner.”
Moreover, Ayushmann finds inspiration in Ajay Devgn. “I take a lot of inspiration from Ajay Devgn sir. Like in his film ‘Golmaal’, most of the punch lines were with other cast members, still he did the film. It’s important to keep your film before yourself. A good film is all about a collaboration between the actors, directors and everyone else.”
Ayushmann is one of the finest actors in Bollywood. But ask him if he ever feels the pressure of delivering hits, he said, “I always scout for fresh content. And have a tick list – like has this subject been done in Hindi cinema before? Is the subject original and pathbreaking? But once I do the film, I leave it to the audience whether to accept it or not. I want to give it my best in whatever I do. So, I don’t think I’ll ever be known for a 300 crore film. I’m known for small and mid-budget films. Hence, I can afford to take risks without pressure.”
If I’ve a genuine friendship with someone, that relationship is still labeled and that affects me: Kartik Aaryan
Kartik Aaryan is one such actor who’s relationship status is much talked about. Recently, in an interview, the actor spoke about his ‘friendships’ and ‘relationships’ getting labeled constantly. But, Karthik agrees with the fact that even though he’s used to living under media scrutiny, he’s not thick-skinned yet.
“I understand the price you pay for being an actor. You cannot run away from the fact that no one’s going to watch you or write about you. It’s something you chose to be in this movie world. So, I’ve agreed to the fact that my life will be out there for all. However, if there’s a genuine friendship somewhere, that relationship will still be labeled. And that kind of labeling creates a lot of issues between people sometimes. That’s not fair I believe. I’m already used to it, but I’m not thick-skinned yet,” he said in a candid chat.
Kartik, who’s kicked about his upcoming movie, ‘Freddy’, elaborated, “If there’s any negative news or rumour, it still affects me big time. And it hurts even more when I’ve not done anything, rumours are completely baseless. Having said that, I’m okay with things and have accepted the life of a film star. There’s not much privacy.”
I had a huge crush on Sania Mirza, I remember getting an apple for her: Varun Dhawan
Varun Dhawan is a ‘crush’ of many girls, but he revealed about ‘his crush’ in an interview recently. He confessed that he had a huge crush on tennis star Sania Mirza. And added that Sania’s mother even scolded him.
“I remember one incident. I was working for Mad Productions and there was an ad shoot that featured Sania Mirza. And for that shoot, we needed 300 shoes. So, I went to Linking Road in Mumbai and rented 300 shoes,” said Varun and added, “I had a huge crush on Sania Mirza at that time. I still remember, she asked me for an apple and I got her one.”
But that was not it. There’s more drama to the story. Varun, who’s currently promoting his new film ‘Bhediya’, revealed, “I was giving Sania an apple and like trembling, I said, ‘Aunty… apple’. Sania’s mother thought I was a crack or something. She asked me, ‘who told you to bring this apple?’ Luckily Sania came and said I want the apple. I got like 5K for it – to get the shoes and also maybe the apple.”
