Britain’s longest serving monarch Queen Elizabeth II dies at 96
Queen Elizabeth II, who has been Britain’s longest-serving monarch for 70 years passed away at the age of 96 on Thursday afternoon, September 8. The Queen who was said to be suffering from deteriorating health for the past several months had ‘mobility issues.’
The Royal Family, on its twitter handle today late evening (IST), wrote, “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
A statement from Buckingham Palace, on Thursday afternoon (IST), read, “Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.” Balmoral in Scotland has been one of the residences of the British royal family since 1852.
Prince Charles, along with wife Camilla, had traveled to Scotland on Thursday after the Queen’s health deteriorated. William, the Queen’s grandson, had also travelled to Scotland to meet the ailing Queen.
Recently appointed Prime Minister Liz Truss had said, “The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime. My thoughts – and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom – are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.”
Queen Elizabeth II is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her eldest son, Prince Charles, the Queen’s son would be the next in line to the throne, while his eldest son, Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, would assume the position of heir to the throne.

India’s ace stock market investor and ‘Big Bull’ of Dalal Street Rakesh Jhunjhunwala passed away in Mumbai this morning. Both a trader and a chartered accountant, he was one of the richest men in the country.
Reportedly, he was brought to the Candy Breach Hospital in Mumbai at 6:45 am and was declared dead. He was suffering from multiple health issues including kidney ailments and had been discharged from the hospital a few weeks ago.
The 62-year-old’s one of the business ventures also included India’s newest budget carrier – Akasa Air – that was formed by teaming up with ex-Jet Airways CEO Vinay Dube and former IndiGo head Aditya Ghosh. As per Forbes, Jhunjhunwala owned approx. $5.8 billion.

Condoling his death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet said, “Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was indomitable.
