Punjab Kings cricketer Jitesh Sharma attends VMSA’s auction for 11th season of its sports extravaganza

Vidarbha Maheshwari Sports Association (VMSA) recently organised a grand players’ auction in Nagpur for the 11th season of its annual sports extravaganza. Punjab Kings wicket-keeper and Vidarbha cricketer Jitesh Sharma attended the event, which was powered by Goverdhan Energy and Petrochemicals. Other important guests at the auction were Rajkumar Chandak, Brijratan Chandak (Reliable Renewable Energy), Vishal Agrawal (President, VIA, and  Director of Plasto Pipes and Tanks) and Dr Romil Rathi.

During the event, 136 players went under the hammer and were bought by 8 teams. These players will now participate in the various sports like football, leather Ball cricket, tennis ball cricket, table tennis, badminton, chess, pool, carrom and volleyball.

The eight teams are: Dynamic Chargers owned by Prashant Mohota, Cage Warriors owned by Sagar Maheshwari, Jayesh Maheshwari and Akash Nabira, Lipi Super Strikers owned by Giriraj Kothari and Govind Mundhra, Knight Rangers owned by Aditya Pasari, Nikesh Bang, Deepak Mandhana and Parikshit Chandak, Sunrisers XI owned by Gaurav Sarda, Atul Daga, Pankaj Tapadiya, Pratik Tapadia, Jatin Rathi and Pavan Bhaiya, Pinamaya Cycles owned by Praveen Surjan, Nilesh Gandhi and Mayur Rathi, Gandhi Builders owned by Sagar Gandhi and Saket Gandhi, and Maheshwari Lions owned by Nitin Rathi, Yogesh Saboo and Sandeep Kabra.

During the auction, each team was given a purse of 40 lakh points in which they had to make a team of 18 players for the year. Yash Loya turned out to be the highest bidded player in auction for 7.2 lakh points followed by Ayush Kabra with 6.7 lakh points. The former went to Pinamaya Cycles while the later was bought by Sunrisers XI. The auction was hosted by Poonam Kukreja and Niraj Loya.

The organising team from VMSA for the auction included: Prashant Mohota, Niraj Loya, Parikshit Chandak, Kaushal Chandak, Saurabh Nathani, Ankit Mundhada, Akshay Bajaj and Anuj Khemani.

49-yr-old man dies while playing badminton in Nagpur

A 49-year-old man in Nagpur died while playing badminton in Pachpaoli area on Monday morning at around 6:45 am.

A 49-year-old man in Nagpur died while playing badminton in Pachpaoli area on Monday morning at around 6:45 am. The deceased, identified as Gunnu Dharma Lohara, was a resident of Yadav Nagar who was playing badminton with his friend. 

He was rushed to Central Railway Hospital in an unconscious state and was declared dead by the doctors there.

Nagpur declared ‘no drone zone’ on March 20, 21

Ahead of G20 meet in Nagpur, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ashwati Dorje, on Wednesday, said the city has been declared ‘No Drone Zone’ on March 20, 21. The development came in as a security measure for the large number of foreign delegates that will be in the city for the summit.   

Any aerial objects including use of parachutes have also been banned.
