The Local Crime Branch’s (LCB) investigation team made a huge discovery on Sunday November 20, when they discovered a fake tobacco production facility in Veltur, close to Saoner. Cops have also detained three people and have seized 347 kg of raw tobacco and other goods worth roughly ₹19 lakh.
According to the police, a 31-year-old native of Old Mankapur, Durgesh Vijay Agrawal ran the ring. He fled after the police operation.
The cop said, “Squad conducted a raid at a farm in Weltur belonging to one Shivaji Vath after receiving a tip. The police observed, he used to procure packets of a known tobacco brand, put low quality ingredients, reseal the pouches and sell it. According to the investigation, Agrawal was buying the scented tobacco company’s empty tin boxes from Paan Shops and filling them with raw tobacco. Electric machines were used for packing of the boxes.”
Anand Balaji Wadichar, age 53 of Durga Nagar, Chhota Pulia, Kalamna; Rakesh Rameshwar Ninave, age 32, of Dahegaon Rangair and Vijay Prabhakar Dumre, age 46 of Bharatwada Road, Pardi were the labourers who were apprehended.
At the Khapa police station, a case was reported against the accused under Sections 188, 272, 273, and 328 of the Indian Penal Code combined with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act.

This will also be the last edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will be a four-match Test series feature.
Australia’s tour of India will conclude with three ODIs in Mumbai (March 17), Visakhapatnam (March 19) and Chennai (March 22) leading into the next season of the IPL.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also announced the schedule for the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

Samruddhi Mahamarg in pictures: A closer look at the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway
Samruddhi Mahamarg or Mumbai-Nagpur Super Communication Expressway, officially named as Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, is a 701-km-long stretch of highway that will help in the development of Marathwada and Vidarbha regions that would be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 11 in Nagpur.
While the expressway as of now is ready for 520 km, the remaining 181 km stretch of highway would be ready by 2024 that will connect Shirdi and Mumbai and will end in Bhiwandi district. The eight-lane expressway is being built by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation at the estimated cost of ₹55,000 crore approximately.
Reportedly, vehicles can drive at a speed of 150 kmph on the expressway, the route of which would pass through 14 districts, six talukas and 392 villages in Maharashtra.
