  1. He was born in Karachi under British India (present day Pakistan) on November 8, 1927.

  2. Advani and former Pak Army chief Pervez Musharraf both went to St. Patricks High School in Pakistan’s Karachi.

  3. He also held a job as a teacher at Model High School in Karachi during the year 1944.
  4. In 1947, he became Secretary of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS).

  5. In 1970 Advani became a member of the Rajya Sabha – a seat he held until 1989.

  6. Advani was arrested from Bengaluru (then Bangalore) during Emergency period (between 1975 to 1977) from where he was taken to Bangalore Central Jail along with other members of Bhartiya Jana Sangh.
  7. After graduating from the DG National College in Hyderabad, Advani pursued law at Government Law College in Mumbai (then Bombay).

  8. He is the one of the founding members of the BJP and was the longest serving president of the saffron party. Large number of the party members of Bhartiya Jan Sangh — led by Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee — formed the new ‘pro-Hindu’ political party – BJP – back in 1980.

  9. He served as the seventh Deputy Prime Minister of India from 2022 to 2004.

  10. Considered as an architect of the BJP’s steady rise in the 90s, Advani was a key figure in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir movement.

  11. Advani was also a film critic, who is fond of chocolates, movies and cricket.

  12. He has over 34 first cousins!

  13. Advani’s family also owned a horse-driven Victoria that was considered as a status symbol back in the 40s.

  14. Advani was awarded Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honour by former President Pranab Mukherjee in 2015.

  15. Advani would always speak of the history of the Jana Sangh and the BJP during his speeches and each such sentence of his would begin with ‘mujhe smaran hai…’ (I remember).

10 lakh spectators, covering 14 seats across 50 km; PM Modi makes history with road show for BJP in Ahmedabad

Gujarat Elections 2022 is on-going, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s road show in Ahmedabad on December 1 made history.

Modi stood in a vehicle designed specially for the 50 km long road show, perhaps the longest in India. It passed through 14 Vidhan Sabha seats, and over 10 lakh people turned up to witness it. 

PM Modi’s road show commenced from Naroda village, passed through the eastern part of Ahmedabad and ended at IOC circle in the Chandkheda area on the city’s western side. It took almost 4 hours to complete the distance.

First phase of voting of Gujarat Assembly Elections in 89 seats was held on December 1. In the remaining 93 seats, which include 16 in Ahmedabad, will happen on December 5.

“Pakistan Zindabad” slogans were being raised during Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra, claimed Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on November 25.

“Pakistan Zindabad” slogans were being raised during Rahul Gandhi led Bharat Jodo Yatra, claimed Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on November 25. He also said that he has ordered a probe into the incident.

Earlier that day, BJP leaders alleged that partakers in the Yatra shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh. A controversy flared up after BJP State President VD Sharma and other party leaders shared a video on social media claiming that ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans were raised during the rally.

Calling it a conspiracy by the BJP against Rahul Gandhi, Congress Party denied the claims. Yatra entered Madhya Pradesh on its 77th day of the Padyatra on November 23.

Covering a total distance of  3,570 km, Congress claimed that Bharat Jodo Yatra is the longest march on foot by any Indian politician in the history of India. It started from Kanyakumari on September 7, and will end in Kashmir next year.

In a recent interview, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal spoke on BJP’s corruption allegations on AAP. He said, ‘BJP accuses us of corruption, they have not found one paisa. They have filed 167 cases against AAP leaders over the last 7 years, out of which not one has been proved in court.’

There were protests by Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) employees due to delayed salaries. Following which, BJP accused AAP for not releasing funds. To which Kejriwal replied, ‘In the last 5 years, we have given ₹one lac cr to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).. ask them (BJP) where it is now? kha gaye saara’ He added, ‘Give me CBI and ED for 24 hours, and more than half of the BJP party will be in jail’

Kejriwal further stated, ‘Modi ji gives free ki revdi, I do that too. While he does it for the rich, I do it for the public. He is waiving off huge loan defaulters behind closed doors. I do it openly for the benefit of the people. Providing schools and hospitals to the public is not free ki revdi, these acts are called as punya in Hinduism.’
