It’s a narrow way of looking at things that a heroine has to be young and pretty: Manisha Koirala

Manisha Koirala
Manisha Koirala is in action! She recently wrapped up the shoot of her next project, ‘Shehzada’ starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon. In an interview, when asked if she ever felt being discriminated for her gender or age, she said, “I don’t remember missing any project because of any of these reasons. And I don’t think that will ever happen. I agree that people do discriminate and also try to run you down. There are times when people comment on social media, ‘Oh, you’re old and you’re this and that’. Well, it’s okay to grow with age and to be discriminated for it. It’s a very narrow way of looking at things that a heroine has to be young and pretty.”
She went to add, “I think it’s a narrow-minded approach when people pass such comments, but I don’t bother much. I focus on the fact that there are so many great roles being written for me and my age. At 52 plus, I’m doing great characters and thats empowers me.”
Manisha took break from acting in 2012 after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Later after five years, she made her comeback with Dear Maya in 2017. When asked about fighting cancer days, she revealed, “When you’re fighting for life, you desire to live even more. I used to wait desperately to hear positive news and positive interviews as well. It was rare that I would see some good stuff and when I did, I would cling to that. God was kind to me, hence I did see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
