I’m proud of the content my uncles, dad and grandfather made: Saasha Shyam Ramsay

We all have grown up watching Ramsay movies! Be it ‘Guest House’, ‘Veerana’, ‘Purana Mandir’, ‘Purani Haveli’, ‘Darwaza’, ‘Bandh Darwaza’, ‘Saboot’ or even the most popular ‘Zee Horror Show’, Indian audiences have watched most of them for sure.

Ramsay Brothers – a family of seven brothers, who are considered to be the pioneers of horror films in India cinema, made over 30 films. And Saasha, daughter of Shyam Ramsay speaks about the family’s legacy. “A lot of people have a lot to say about the movies my family made – both good and bad, but I don’t care! The content my uncles, dad and grandfather made were legendary and I’m proud of them. Moreover, people are free to give their opinion,” said Saasha, who’s working on two films right now. “I’ve completed a feature film, ‘Motel’ and also a short film, ‘Leakage’, whose post-production is underway. I’m also making a horror movie,” she revealed.

Going down the memory lane, Saasha added, “I’m following my dad’s steps. I remember, when I was in school, dad was making ‘Veerana’ and ‘Purani Haveli’. He used to get ideas from what he would see in real life. So once he saw a melted eclair and that gave him the idea to create the witch’s hairdo. He also noticed the sound of the hot tawa sizzle with droplets of water on it. Such experiences gave him ideas about sound design and it was just mesmerising to see how dad and my uncles came up with unique ideas which were creative too.”

Earlier this year, there were reports that producer Priti Sinha and actor-producer-director Ajay Devgn have acquired the rights for a biographical drama about the Ramsay Brothers. “Well, this movie was my father’s dream project and Priti has managed to get everything on board. It’s shaping up very well and I miss my dad now. I’m sure, with this filmpeople will get to know what it took to create the Ramsay brand of horror,” she said and signed off.

Ayushmann Khurrana with Shah Rukh Khan and right in front of SRK’s house Mannat

Like many, even actor Ayushmann Khurrana is a Shah Rukh Khan fan. And when the actor happened to be in Bandra on Sunday, he stopped by in front of King Khan’s house Mannat. In fact, he made a wish in front of the gate looking at Mannat through the sunroof of his car.

The actor shared a picture on his social media page from SRK’s house and captioned, “Mannat se guzar raha tha. Toh ek mannat maang li #AnActionHero #2ndDecember #SRKian” He added the song ‘Baazigar O Baazigar’ from Shah Rukh’s film ‘Baazigar’ along with the picture.

Ayushmann Khurrana

Ayushmann Khurrana is back with an action drama, ‘An Action Hero’. And the trailer of the film is a promising one, a real genre-bender for Ayushmann fans. The movie also has Jaideep Ahlawat playing the lead alongside Ayushmann. So when asked to comment on how many big stars are doing two-hero films these days, Ayushmann, who has always teamed up with actors playing strong characters, said, “Be it Annu Kapoor’s character in ‘Vicky Donor, Rajkummar Rao in ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, Gajraj Rao in ‘Badhai Ho or Tabu in ‘Andhadhun’, all these characters were equally strong along with mine. So, I’ve never followed the trend. I work with actors who contribute to a film. Ultimately, it’s the film that’s a winner.”

Moreover, Ayushmann finds inspiration in Ajay Devgn. “I take a lot of inspiration from Ajay Devgn sir. Like in his film ‘Golmaal’, most of the punch lines were with other cast members, still he did the film. It’s important to keep your film before yourself. A good film is all about a collaboration between the actors, directors and everyone else.”

Ayushmann is one of the finest actors in Bollywood. But ask him if he ever feels the pressure of delivering hits, he said, “I always scout for fresh content. And have a tick list – like has this subject been done in Hindi cinema before? Is the subject original and pathbreaking? But once I do the film, I leave it to the audience whether to accept it or not. I want to give it my best in whatever I do. So, I don’t think I’ll ever be known for a 300 crore film. I’m known for small and mid-budget films. Hence, I can afford to take risks without pressure.”

If I’ve a genuine friendship with someone, that relationship is still labeled and that affects me: Kartik Aaryan

Kartik Aaryan

Kartik Aaryan is one such actor who’s relationship status is much talked about. Recently, in an interview, the actor spoke about his ‘friendships’ and ‘relationships’ getting labeled constantly. But, Karthik agrees with the fact that even though he’s used to living under media scrutiny, he’s not thick-skinned yet.

“I understand the price you pay for being an actor. You cannot run away from the fact that no one’s going to watch you or write about you. It’s something you chose to be in this movie world. So, I’ve agreed to the fact that my life will be out there for all. However, if there’s a genuine friendship somewhere, that relationship will still be labeled. And that kind of labeling creates a lot of issues between people sometimes. That’s not fair I believe. I’m already used to it, but I’m not thick-skinned yet,” he said in a candid chat.

Kartik, who’s kicked about his upcoming movie, ‘Freddy’, elaborated, “If there’s any negative news or rumour, it still affects me big time. And it hurts even more when I’ve not done anything, rumours are completely baseless. Having said that, I’m okay with things and have accepted the life of a film star. There’s not much privacy.”
