I once tried wearing a wig for a public event, but I found it to be ridiculous: Lisa Ray

Lisa Ray is one such actress who fought with a rare type of cancer and bounced back stronger. And the actress, who’s currently seen in popular web series ‘Four More Shots Please!’, haven’t seen back thereafter, from the time she announced she’s cancer-free in 2010.

On November 7, National Cancer Awareness Day, Lisa got vocal about battling cancer in her latest social media post. The actress also revealed how she was heartbroken when she was replaced in a travel show after she lost hair due to chemotherapy.

Lisa Ray shared this old pic after chemo on her social media recently

Her post read as, “‘How are you still standing? Your red blood cell count is so low that you can go into cardiac arrest any moment!’ That’s what my doctor said when she 1st saw my blood test report. I’d been experiencing fatigue for months. And a few tests later, another doctor said, ‘You’ve cancer of the plasma of the bone marrow.’ At that moment, for the 1st time in years, I stopped and took a breath. I’d always been on the go. But while a part of me lived on the red carpet, the other craved spiritual peace – extreme ends! Like, I wanted to write a book. It helped me connect with myself. But with work, I never got to do it.”

The actress also explained how cancer changed things for her. “After my treatment, I once tried wearing a wig for a public event, but I found it to be ridiculous. I told myself, ‘Remove it’ and went all bald. It was all over the headlines but more than that, it was the most liberating thing I’d ever done. But the media wasn’t always nice. After chemo, I was a part of a travel show with my hair short. I called it a ‘chemo cut’. But the channel replaced me. They wanted a girl with ‘long’ hair. It was heartbreaking,” she expressed in her post.

Lisa, who got married in 2012 with Jason Dehni, had revealed in an interview earlier that she had hid after her cancer relapse from her husband which was soon after her marriage.

The music composer who misses composing with Lalit, added, “It’s not easy to forget a partnership, because you go through a lot of emotions with your ‘working partner’. Be it any achievement, success, failure, good or bad, all the emotions are lived together. So, obviously, I miss my partner. But, things can be resolved only when one is willing to sit and talk about the matter. Otherwise, nothing can happen.”

Moreover, Jatin feels sad that even his brother, Lalit’s kids don’t talk to him. “I never felt bad when Lalit hosted events and had my name associated with it. Lalit never reached out to me even when he was performing our compositions somewhere. It saddens me the most that the children of my brother don’t come and talk to me,” said Jatin.

Actress-turned-author Twinkle Khanna went down the memory lane by posting a video on her social media page on Children’s Day. Opening about her childhood days, Twinkle revealed how she followed a balloon seller on the streets of Mumbai.

Twinkle wrote in her post, “An apocryphal tale around my childhood states that as a tiny toy in what was then called Cadbury Academy, I followed a balloon man out of the gate of the nursery. I was spotted on Linking Road, still following the balloon man, by my aunt’s hairdresser, Lucy and brought back home. It seems slightly unbelievable. How could I walk so much? What are the chances of Lucy seeing me on the street?”

The author recorded this video when she had gone out to get balloons for her daughter, Nitara’s birthday. She added in her caption and wrote, “But memory is a strange thing. Because I have heard this so many times, regardless of what really happened, I can see myself outside a particular shop on Linking Road. I have an image in my head of walking on that particular pavement and yes, I can see a wiry balloon man striding ahead of me. I hope the day I got these balloons for my daughter’s birthday, no one followed me.” she also added.
