India lined-up to surpass China as the most populated country in 2023

According to projections made by United Nation, the world population hit the mark of eight billion today on November 15, 2022. The eight billion population milestone showed that the population increased by one billion people in the world in just the last 11 years.

India is lined-up to surpass China as the world’s most populated by the year 2023. Also, the global population is projected to peak at around 10.4 billion in the 2080s.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres  said, “This year’s World Population Day falls during a milestone year when we anticipate the birth of the Earth’s eight billionth inhabitant. This is an occasion to celebrate our diversity, recognice our common humanity, and marvel at advancements in health that have extended lifespans and dramatically reduced maternal and child mortality rates.”

Upcoming Winters

After experiencing severe rainfall in Nagpur (138.8 mm), which was the highest rainfall in the month of October in nine years, meteorologists forecast a comparatively colder winter this year because of extended southwest monsoon. The temperature in the district fell down 20 degrees Celsius.

Regional Meteorological Department official said, “The Northern wind has been predominating recently, and as a result, Vidarbha region has been experiencing cold winds.” He added, there will not be any significant change in the temperature within next two weeks.

Scientist at RMD, Dr Praveen Kumar added, “A considerable drop in the temperature is typically seen during December, which will lead to actual winter in Nagpur at that time, the city of Nagpur may experience winter in its truest form during the month of December. Having said that, we are keeping a close eye on the model guidance.” He also said that over Nagpur and Vidarbha, the drop in the temperature happens because of a western disturbance (in north) and because of a strong north westerly/northerly wind present simultaneously.
